Public Speaking & Debate Camp

Our Summer Public Speaking & Debate Camps for High School and Middle School students teaches the key processes of public speaking and effective argumentation, enabling students to develop core presentation and debating skills that boost confidence and self-esteem. We work on debate case construction, composing briefs, research, rebuttals, cross-fire, evidence analysis, and summary and final focus. Students leave the academic camp with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to excel in life.

Please Note: Capitol Debate does not provide pick up or drop off services at local airports for parents or campers. All travel arrangements must be made individually by those attending the camp. For information, directions, recommendations, and safety tips in connection with transport to and from the camp location, please see the local transit authority website in the city in which your student is attending camp. You may also find good information on the ‘Contact Us’ or ‘Visiting the Campus’ page on the college campus website where your student will be attending camp.

5th Day of Camp

About half way through camp students will have the opportunity to enjoy a trip off campus. This is a great chance for students to take the day at their own pace, there is something for everyone!

Cancellation Policy: All payments are nonrefundable. Should cancellation be necessary, full credit will be provided up to 1 year from the date of the event, if written notice of cancellation is provided prior to May 1st for camps and at least two weeks for other programs. Any add-ons, tournament or fees paid cannot be refunded and are non-transferrable. Summer camp cancellations received after May 1st or programs cancellations after two weeks prior to program starting must also be made in writing and will follow the below schedule for applicable credit to your account.
    Camp cancellation credit timetable:
  • After May 1 | 85% credit
  • 30 - 22 days before start date | 70% credit
  • 21 - 8 days before start date | 60% credit
  • 7 - 4 days before start date | 50% credit
  • 3 - 1 day before start date | 25% credit
  • No Show | 0 credit
    Other programs cancellation credit timetable:
  • Two weeks before program start | 100% credit
  • Within two weeks before program start | 50% credit
  • Day of or No Show | 0% credit

Trip / Cancellation Insurance: Trip and/or Cancellation Insurance can be purchased through a 3rd party provider such as www.aplusplans.com/ or www.insuremytrip.com. Plans range in cost from $20 to $285 and can protect your investment in various ways from lost luggage or missed connection compensation to cancellation for any reason with 70% - 100% refund options. Most plans require enrollment on or before the final payment is made for your trip so please be sure to look into these available options today.
