At some point in everyone’s life, at any age, students will be required to deliver a presentation or speak in front of an audience. Capitol Debate’s Virtual Public Speaking Camp prepares students to become powerful, confident speakers and great communicators. Through daily, interactive practice, students will refine their communication skills and become confident in their ability to speak in class. Our highly-trained public speaking instructors will provide guidance and feedback every step of the way. By the end of the camp, students are self-assured in their public speaking skills and, most importantly, are empowered to use their voice to become advocates for issues that are important to them and their communities.
Introduces students to style (eye contact, articulation, voice, hand gestures, and confidence). Students will deliver a famous speech in history at the end of camp.
Continues where Public Speaking 101 leaves off and teaches students how to write their own speech. Students will present an informative speech they have written at the end of camp.
Only for students 11 or older this course is a beginning course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of public speaking (eye contact, articulation, voice, hand gestures, and confidence) and debate. Students will present a persuasive speech they have written at the end of camp.
You video chat people so you can see your instructor. You can see how they are interacting with you. It's like a face to face interaction just over the web.
Like most parents, I was skeptical about how interactive this medium would be. But I do see that it has brought a tremendous amount of positive change to my son's life.
My son loves it; he enjoys it; he gets a lot out of it. I've seen him grow in his character and his confidence.
They have excellent teachers, and they have an excellent staff who are really are invested in the growth of these kids.
It's taught me to be so much of a better debater. You can do practice debates online; you can do speeches online; you can do anything you would normally do at a debate practice online.
These online classes have met and exceeded my expectations. I was a bit hesitant because I come from a generation where we meet in the classroom, and we drive and get together. But the kids are so collaborative online, I don't think they are missing a beat.
