Take your Public Forum game to the next level! Whether you are a novice entering JV or Varsity planning on participating in more National Circuit tournaments, Capitol Debate is here to help you reach your competitive goals for next year. Our curriculum constantly challenges students to apply the material they learn throughout camp. Every lecture is accompanied by a practicum where students execute on the topic covered and lab time is focused on practicing techniques, not just research every day. Between execution drills and practice rounds, every student speaks every day.
Capitol Debate’s Public Forum Beginner/Intermediate Camp is for students entering their first year of Public Forum Debate or have limited experience. Teaches basics of case construction, research, refutation, cross-examination, flowing, summary speech and final focus.
In addition to what is learned in 1 week camp, 2 week campers focus on strategic debating followed by a debate tournament.
You video chat people so you can see your instructor. You can see how they are interacting with you. It's like a face to face interaction just over the web.
Like most parents, I was skeptical about how interactive this medium would be. But I do see that it has brought a tremendous amount of positive change to my son's life.
My son loves it; he enjoys it; he gets a lot out of it. I've seen him grow in his character and his confidence.
They have excellent teachers, and they have an excellent staff who are really are invested in the growth of these kids.
It's taught me to be so much of a better debater. You can do practice debates online; you can do speeches online; you can do anything you would normally do at a debate practice online.
These online classes have met and exceeded my expectations. I was a bit hesitant because I come from a generation where we meet in the classroom, and we drive and get together. But the kids are so collaborative online, I don't think they are missing a beat.
