The goal of our day camps is to teach debate students the basics of argument and develop communication skills, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and increased self-esteem. Capitol Debate was only the second time I had ever been away from home and I was very apprehensive at first. However I immediately felt at home as soon as I stepped through my dorm room and that feeling continued throughout my entire two week stay. From four square to water parks I had so much fun and I made many great friends. I learned so much and not only did I improve as a student and debater, I became a better person. Capitol Debate has really worked hard to provide a great experience to campers and it reflected in everything we did. I am so glad I attended this camp and I am looking forward to many more times!!
This camp teaches our kids the valuable skills of debate fostering critical thinking and self-confidence and within a supportive and fun group of peers.
Capitol Debate is not just a camp. It is a life changing experience that helps improve your debate skills while making a ton of new friends.
I don't think about people judging me anymore, I feel like I've become more open. For example I don't mind going up and signing horribly for a crowd anymore. Who cares what they think as long as I'm having fun. I understand that now.
When I arrived at Capitol Debate, I didn't know how to debate. By the end of the camp, not only did I learn to do this, but I also learned how to speak in front of many people AND I made so many friends. Thank you Capitol for an amazing summer! I am definitely coming back next year!
This training builds useful verbal communication skills and instills confidence to try different verbal styles that most kids should have.
This camp improved my argumentation and speaking technique significantly and had a great impact on me as a developing debater. This was the best debate camp experience of my life compared to others. I definitely found my voice!
It was a great experience for me. I got to learn countless things while also having fun. My instructor was one of the best teachers I've ever had, and I learned a lot from him. I felt really close to my labmates and all of them were really happy for me when I won. I honestly loved this camp, and will 100% come back next year.
I would tell them that Capitol Debate offers a wonderful camp that could change there outlook on life .
