National Travel Debate Team

The National Travel Debate Team is part of Capitol Debate’s prestigious middle and high school debate programs. This team is a very select group of students that have attended our camps and/or online introduction class and have previously competed with our team in the past.  It is by invite only.

Students meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening.  Class times range from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  Team members must keep the entire block time open.   Each group of 8 students will be coached by a Senior Instructor and a Junior Instructor.  The main focus of the online sessions is to prepare students for upcoming debate tournaments.

Preparation for upcoming tournaments includes:

  • Case Writing Sessions
  • Writing Rebuttal Briefs
  • Strategic Planning
  • Practice Debates with extensive critiques
  • Advanced Debate Discussions
  • Evidence Cutting
  • Joint Research Sessions
  • Crossfire Strategies
  • End Game Strategies for Topics
