Sidra Hussain competed on her Public Forum Debate Team throughout her four years at Great Neck South High School. During her junior and senior years, she served as the team captain. At National Debate Tournaments she was the team coach and made it to double octofinals at the Harvard National Debate Tournament. She was the only student on her team to be a four-time qualifier for the NYSFL Championship. Sidra also took the skills she gained from debate and utilized them at Model Congress competitions around the nation. She received an Honorable Mention in the foreign affairs committee and Best Delegate in the Full Senate at the Yale Model Congress and the University of Pennsylvania Model Congress. During her years as captain, she helped six teams qualify for the NYSFL Championship. On her school’s FIRST Robotics Competition team she served as the Building and Design Team Leader and presented the team’s robot to technical judges at robotics competitions. In her free time, she is the Co-President of BlockchainsForSchools, a non-profit organization that works to bridge the education gap between the blockchain industry and schools. She is excited to be sharing the debating and public speaking skills she has perfected throughout high school this summer and help young students at Capitol Debate find their voice!
