Lauren Scoggan is originally from Alabama and is an alumnus of The University of Alabama. Lauren taught 5th Grade in San Antonio, Texas for four years. Her passion for encouraging student's academic and social/emotional development stems from her personal experience in school and involvement in extra curricular activities. She attributes her ability to step out of her comfort zone and take initiative to her 4 years on her high school's speech and debate team. In turn, Lauren is eager to develop similar skills and confidence in students in her classroom and at Capitol Debate camp. She is also passionate about advocating for clients , empowering clients through coping skills, and providing counseling to clients. She graduates in May 2019 with her Master's of Science in Social Work and plans to serve as a Youth Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic in the Fall of 2019 in order to continue developing her clinical social work skills and expand her experiences of working with youth.
