Program Overview
Our middle school debate camps teach the fundamentals of argumentation, enabling kids to develop core debating skills that boost confidence and self-esteem. They offer students the chance to improve their communication skills in a safe and secure environment.
The curricula of our middle school debate camps aim to equip children to structure arguments, prepare debate cases, research evidence, write rebuttal briefs, deliver speeches, and refute opponents. It will prepare them to join high school debate teams, Model United Nations teams, or speech teams.
Not only will our students learn debating skills, they will feel an increase in self-worth, learn critical thinking skills, and improve communication with their peers.
How We Teach
We challenge our debate students to apply the material they have learned in their lectures. Rather than just hearing and forgetting huge amounts of information, they put into practice the theories presented in class.
For example, following a lecture on evidence and statistics children will be split into small groups. With the guidance of experienced instructors, our middle school debate students will test their understanding by examining evidence and finding flaws in the statistics presented.
Our experience has shown that such exercises best develop, stretch, and cement a child’s understanding of the core skills we are teaching, helping them to maximize their potential

We Make Debaters Better
Middle school debate is a chance for children to practice basic argument skills, with the guidance of our experienced teachers. Each camper receives detailed feedback, notes, and instructions about how to improve. They review, refine, and re-deliver their debates the next day. Parents, your child will become a better debater.
