Program Overview
Communication, Law, & Debate teaches high school students the fundamentals of argument, enabling them to develop core skills that boost confidence and build self-esteem. Our residential debate camp gives high school students the chance to cultivate their communication skills in a warm and friendly environment. The instruction, skills, and experience our students gain will aid them on their debate team, model United Nations team, mock trial team, or speech team.
Our debate camps are intended to provide specific guidance in structuring arguments, writing cases, researching evidence, writing rebuttal briefs, delivering speeches, and refuting opposing debate teams.
Debate students will gain more than just debating techniques. They will have an increased sense of self-worth. They will learn thinking skills that are critical to communication among their peers. They will work with leading lecturers from around the country— lecturers who have years of teaching and debating experience.
How We Teach
The aim of our academic camp is to enhance the lives of our students, and we do that with careful instruction and application in small groups. The theories taught in class are always applied in practice. The skills we teach are specifically applied in the areas of public forum debate, Model United Nations, and mock trial.
A lecture on evidence and statistics will be followed by application. Campers will be placed with a small group of debate students, who have similar experience, to examine the evidence and find flaws in the statistics.
Application is the key to concrete understanding. The principles taught at our summer debate institute are cemented in the minds of our students through real-time application and experience, under the observation of our staff.
What We Teach
Our high school debate camps teach students to:
- Deliver Winning Speeches
- Refute the Other Debating Team
- Take Notes During a Debate
- Cross-Examine Their Opponents
- Structure Their Arguments
- Back-Up Their Arguments with Evidence
- Research the Evidence They Need
- Write Persuasive Cases
- Draft Rebuttal Briefs
We Make Debaters Better
Our high school debate institutes place campers under the oversight of instructors and lecturers who have given their lives to teaching and debate—instructors who have acquired their skills over a lifetime of experience.

Students Will Learn the Skills They Need to Compete in High School Debate
Every time a student presents or participates in a debate, our instructors are observing, critiquing, and giving feedback. Students receive a notebook that details specific ways they should refine their approach to debate, strengths they posses, and areas where they need to grow. Students, you will receive what you need to become a skilled debater.
To achieve a balanced program, we mix theory, practice, and practical instruction.
