Capitol Debate Coaches Hundreds of Students in over 20 Cities
Capitol Debate’s club debate teams are part of Capitol Debate’s prestigious middle and high school debate programs. Debate Leagues have been created in the Boston metropolitan area, Northeast Region (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) and the Mid-Atlantic Region (Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, District of Columbia and North Carolina).
Competition Dates: Each regional debate league will host 2 debate competitions per semester. The Boston Club Debate Competitions will take place on Saturday October 29, 2016 and the second one will take place on December 10, 2016. The Northeast Debate League Competitions will take place on Sunday October 30, 2016 and the second one will take place on Sunday December 11, 2016. Mid-Atlantic Debate Competitions will take place on Saturday October 22, 2016 and the second one will take place on December 3, 2016.
Competition Locations: During the Fall semester, students will meet with their debate coach online every Wednesday evening to prepare with other teammates for upcoming debate competitions. In the Boston area, the Boston Club Debate League will host 2 debate competitions in the fall. The first one will take place on Saturday October 29, 2016 and the second one will take place on December 10, 2016. The competitions will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Location in the Boston Metropolitan Area. Students will have the opportunity to meet with their debate coach in person at the debate competitions.
Eligibility: Open to students from grade 6 – 12 that have completed one of our Summer Debate Camps and/or Online Introduction to Debate.
Class Times: Students will meet with their debate coach online every Wednesday evening to prepare with other teammates for upcoming debate competitions. Classes will range from starting at 6:30 p.m. EST to 8:30 p.m. EST. We will host a class for West Coast students at 6:30 p.m. PST. Students interested in participating must keep these time slots open until we announce the exact class times by September 1st. Students will have the opportunity to meet with their debate coach in person at the debate competitions.

Students will get plenty of practice debates online followed by extensive feedback. The coaches hold strategy sessions. They listen as students redo speeches from the past week, critique the speeches, and give instruction. They lead online practice debates, show students how to evaluate evidence, give speaking drills, and hold Q&A sessions. We provide everything you need to become a debater, with or without a school team.
This is an amazing opportunity to apply the skills you learned in class. The cost is $1000 per semester starting.
