Middle School Academic Camps Introduce Kids to the Basics of Speech and Debate

All our middle school debate camp workshops offer children the opportunity to learn new skills that will help them grow in confidence and self-esteem as they discover ways to communicate, show leadership, and address peer groups. Our focus is on the practical application of debating skills, enabling children to immediately see how the theory is applied. Under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced debating coaches, children have the opportunity to advance quickly as competitive debaters.

The after school workshops are less rigorous than our summer camps, but their purpose is the same: to improve the social, intellectual, and academic lives of our students through debate. We provide an introduction to the basics of argument, such as preparing speeches, examining witnesses, and organization. A strong emphasis is placed on public speaking, as children learn to address a large group of people and control their voices with elocution and projection.

The benefit of these workshops is an early introduction to critical thinking, communication, and leadership. Whether or not your children go on to competitive debating in high school, college, or in their careers, these skills will affect any field of study and work they pursue.
